SUPPLY TAGGING ARRANGEMENTS

Holstein UK has entered into an agreement with a third party supplier (“Tag Supplier”) whereby the Tag Supplier will supply tissue or regular ear tags for cattle (comprising females, males and calves) for registered Holstein UK members as well as farmers associated or otherwise with other cattle breeder clubs, which supply tagging arrangements will be subject to the terms as set out below:

1. The Holstein UK member/Farmer concerned may order tags by phone or by website.
   
   
2. On receipt of such order Holstein UK shall place a corresponding order with the Tag Supplier on the same working day (or if after 2pm the following day – such orders to be placed Monday to Friday by 2pm).
   
   
3. Once the order has been transferred to the Tag Supplier no amendments or cancellations can be made processed. It is therefore the responsibility of the Holstein UK member/Farmer to ensure the correct tags are ordered.
   
   
4. The cost of such tags shall be applied to the Holstein UK member/ Farmer concerned membership account and shall be payable by the Holstein UK member/Farmer concerned within 30 days of the date of the invoice. Or alternatively, the cost can be paid by card at the point of ordering through the website.
   
   
5. The Tag Supplier shall deliver the tags ordered direct to the Holstein UK member/Farmer concerned.
   
   
6. It shall be the responsibility of the Holstein UK member/Farmer concerned to tag their cattle and to take tissue samples when doing so.
   
   
7. The Holstein UK member/Farmer concerned shall be responsible for (at their own cost) sending the tissue samples in the pre-addressed padded envelope provided to Holstein UK specifying testing or storage requirements to the Telford Laboratory/premises.
   
   
8. Where testing is required, the Holstein UK member/Farmer concerned shall be responsible for correctly stating what testing is to be carried out. The cost of the testing will be applied to the Holstein UK member/Farmer concerned membership account.
   
   
9. Samples received will be visually checked when arriving at the Telford Laboratory/premises. If there are any immediate concerns over sample quality the Holstein UK member/Farmer will be contacted and given the opportunity to re-sample.
   
   
10. Ownership of the tissue sample shall transfer to Holstein UK on its safe receipt of the same at its Telford Laboratory/premises. 
    
    
11. Holstein UK shall have the right at its own discretion to carry out random testing of the DNA on the tissue samples it stores on an “as and when basis” which Holstein UK considers to be reasonable and prudent for it to do so in accordance with the Holstein UK Membership Handbook.
    
    
12. In the event that Holstein UK undertakes such DNA testing it shall publish the results to the Holstein UK member/Farmer concerned.
    
    
13. In the event that there are discovered by such DNA testing parentage issues, steps will be taken to try to rectify any such parentage issues.
